People who have educational qualifications in the field of law, having legal permission to practice law are known as lawyers. In other countries there are characteristic terms which are used for the concept of lawyers.

In countries, having civil laws there is a usual practice of processing the legal tasks by civil law notaries, clerks etc. In America, these are not recognized as lawyers but are called jurists. But of these legal servants few are advocates, having legal permission to practice. Others are various kinds of trained personals in law. There in some civil law countries equality between prosecutors and advocate developed, but no one ever think of monopolizing their position.

Many countries having multiple legal professions mostly have single type of lawyers. In United States, there are combined types of legal services. There are trial lawyers but they do not monopolize like a barrister can do. In some countries, some small courts do not allow lawyers to speak on behalf of the clients. This is basically a measure to spend less money on a small case.

In some countries, contrast to this previous fact, a client is not even permitted to go into the court room without a lawyer. There is an advantage in the fact, a lawyer representing a client. This actually helps the lawyers to be more regular to the court and which again helps them to understand the situations more actively. This regularity and efficiency in understanding the situation helps the court in smooth running of a case with a good pace.

Lawyers are used to take the huge pressure of a case. They have to prepare themselves in their own way by preparing the court papers with a vivid description of the case in them. Also their main job is to prepare their own oral speech for every particular case.

Lawyers are highly qualified, efficient and good risk takers. But all that they do is in a legal way. So, the lawyers can be said the legal servants of law maintaining law and order of a country with a license to do so.
